PUMPHOUSE POINT IN TOP 50 HOTELS IN AUSTRALIA AND BEST OF STATE FOR COMMERCIAL DESIGN.

It has been an exciting start to the week for Pumphouse Point – being named among the top 50 hotels in Australia in Gourmet Traveller’s 2018 Australian Hotel Guide as well as receiving Best of State Award for Commercial Design at the Australian Interior Design Awards.

Published with the June issue of Gourmet Traveller, Pumphouse Point has been included in the 2018 Gourmet Traveller Australian Hotel Guide featuring the nation’s top 50 hotels.

Sarah Oakes, Gourmet Traveller‘s editor, has congratulated all 50 top hotels featured in Australia’s only national hotel guide. “We’re seeing more hotels championing local makers and produce and thinking hard about how to connect guests with the neighbourhood,” she said.

The guide is produced by a team of reviewers who check in unannounced and pay their own way. Reviewers and editors compare their experiences to choose the nation’s top 50 hotels.

“Our aim isn’t just to sell a room for the night, we want to provide a memorable, wilderness experience and the team up there have been doing a fantastic job and receiving another accolade is a testament to their great work.” Simon Currant, developer of Pumphouse Point said. “With such a high calibre of Tourism experiences in Australia, especially here in Tasmania, it brings us great pride to be included.

The 15th annual Australian Interior Design Awards have also just been presented at a gala celebration in Sydney, with more than 500 of Australia’s most esteemed interior design and architecture practitioners and professionals in attendance. Australian Interior Design Awards is Australia’s foremost design awards program.

The new Shorehouse Dining Room picked up the Best of State Award for Commercial Design in Tasmania with fantastic work from Tasmanian firm Jaws Interiors.

“The Shorehouse Dining Room extension came as a result of the need for more ‘do nothing’ space at Pumphouse Point and it was wonderful to be able to work with Jaws Interiors and many other local artisans and designers.” said Mr. Currant.
